IFAR Consortium Annual Conference 2026 – Call for Participants

By Achmad Jatnika

The “Contours of Inequality” International Conference, organized by the Institute for Advanced Research (IFAR) at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII), is set to take place from August 12-14, 2026. This event brings together leading scholars, policymakers, and activists to critically examine the dynamics, causes, and consequences of inequality across Southeast Asia.

Inequality has re-emerged as a central public issue in Southeast Asia, despite decades of robust economic growth. While poverty rates have declined, the benefits of growth have not been evenly distributed. Countries like Thailand and Indonesia now rank among the most unequal globally, with wealth concentrated among economic elites. Political leaders across the region have acknowledged the urgency of addressing these disparities, making inequality a focal point of policy and public debate.

This event will be open not only to presenters but also to non-presenters. If you are interested in participating in this landmark event, you can secure your spot at s.uiii.id/IfarConference with benefits:

  • Full 3-day conference access
  • Conference materials & kit
  • Lunch and coffee break
  • Certificate of attendance
