On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) inaugurated three new officials to fill key administrative positions: the Head of the MA in Data Science Program, the Head of the MA in Islamic Studies Specializing in Classical Islam Program, and the Head of the Center of Quality Assurance.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Procession Hall of the UIII Rectorate Building in Depok, West Java, and was led by Rector Prof. Jamhari. In his remarks, Prof. Jamhari emphasized the significance of these appointments in enhancing the university’s global ranking.

“Today, Wednesday, November 26, 2025, I, the Rector of UIII, hereby officially inaugurate you into your new positions on the UIII campus. I believe that you will carry out your duties as you should; hopefully, Allah SWT will be with us,” Prof. Jamhari said.

The newly inaugurated officials are:

  1. Alpha Amirrachman, Ph.D., has been appointed as the Head of the Center of Quality Assurance. He is an educator and scholar specializing in education policy and social sciences. He has made significant contributions to education reform in Indonesia and beyond. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of Amsterdam. He also holds an M.Phil. in Education from the University of Sydney, with a focus on education decentralization.
  2. Dr. Ilyas Marwal has been appointed as the Head of the MA in Islamic Studies Specializing in Classical Islam. Dr. Marwal obtained his Doctorate in Islamic Studies from Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco. He completed his MA in Islamic Studies at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez, Morocco. He was also educated at the Islamic University in Madinah al-Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia, where he obtained his BA in Islamic Law.
  3. Muhammad Al Atiqi, Ph.D., has been appointed as the Head of the MA in Data Science Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the School of Computing at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, after completing his M.Sc. in the same program and a B.Sc. in Physics from Nanyang Technological University. Prior to joining UIII, he worked as a data scientist at tech companies in Indonesia and Japan.

Prof. Jamhari gave a message to each newly appointed head. Regarding Mr. Al Atiqi, Prof. Jamhari believes that with his professional experience, Al Atiqi will develop the Data Science Program into a well-established major in Indonesia. He hopes that this program will be valuable in the future. “Hopefully, Mr. Atiqi can share his knowledge in the data science major and make this major the most advanced in Indonesia,” he said.

The Rector of UIII also congratulated Dr. Ilyas on his appointment, noting that he had previously served as the coordinator of this concentration before it became a stand-alone program. “I think Dr. Ilyas, who has worked tirelessly in the Takhasus program, has promoted this program to a higher level. Thank you for your hard work, which has made Takhasus a highly sought-after program,” he said.

Last but not least, Prof. Jamhari assigned a significant task to Mr. Alpha, particularly regarding ensuring UIII is registered for the QS World Rankings next year. “So our study programs will be recognized internationally,” he said. Prof. Jamhari believes that with his skills and Mr. Alpha’s network, he can handle it.

To all the participants at the ceremony, he conveyed the message that these gentlemen are the right people to hold the assigned positions. “So we need to help them make this university world-class,” he added.

Additionally, as UIII enters its 5th year, the Rector wants the Civitas Academica of UIII to evaluate itself—what has been achieved, what is still lacking, and where potential has not yet been met. “This is a milestone for UIII. We don’t have much time left. Let’s prepare with hard work to become a respected, independent university,” he concluded.
