JAKARTA - The International Islamic University of Indonesia (UIII) is expected to become a trendsetter in academic, research and Islamic culture. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Religion when reviewing the process of building a campus located in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java, Wednesday, June 17, 2020.

"As an international standard educational institution, UIII is expected to become a trendsetter in academic, research and Islamic culture both at regional and international levels," said Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag) Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi, Wednesday, June 17, 2020, quoted from the Ministry of Religion's website. go.id. "As the center of Indonesian Muslim culture, UIII will be a storefront and at the same time a window for Indonesian Islam to the outside world and become the most important part of our soft diplomacy to the outside world," added the Deputy Minister of Religion.

He added, to be able to make this happen, the support of all parties is needed. "UIII is oriented and must be supported by various parties including the government, society, academia and research as a whole," said Zainut. According to him, UIII is a national strategic project for Indonesia as the largest Muslim country in the world fighting for wasathiyah (moderate) Islam. "UIII is proof of our presence at the international level as the largest Muslim country," said the Deputy Minister of Religion.

Therefore, the Deputy Minister of Religion continued, UIII must be made an icon of Indonesian Wasathiyah Islam which has international standards in the fields of academics, research, and professionalism. Accompanying the Deputy Minister of Religion on his visit, Director of PTKIS Kemenag Arskal Salim, UIII Rector Komaruddin Hidayat, along with the leaders and contractors involved in the UIII construction process.
