YEREVAN, March 11, 2025 – Ararat Kostanian, a PhD scholar from the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII), recently delivered a lecture to MBA students at the Faculty of Economics and Management, Yerevan State University (YSU), Armenia. His lecture focused on ASEAN’s evolving role in regionalism and global trade, shedding light on the region’s strategic positioning amid global power shifts.
"I had the honor of delivering a lecture to MBA students at the Faculty of Economics and Management, Yerevan State University, on ASEAN’s evolving role in regionalism and global trade," said Kostanian. "My lecture explored ASEAN’s centrality, the evolving U.S.-China strategic competition, Indonesia’s independent free and active foreign policy, and its skillful implementation of a hedging strategy."
Kostanian’s insights provided students with a deeper understanding of ASEAN’s role as a key player in global trade and regional integration. He also elaborated on how Indonesia, as ASEAN’s largest economy, has managed to balance its foreign policy amidst intensifying competition between the U.S. and China.
“Such lecture is being given for the first time in Armenia on academic level about Southeast Asia in general and on Indonesian foreign policy in particular,” Kostanian added.
The lecture was part of YSU’s initiative to expose its students to diverse perspectives on international economic relations. Kostanian’s analysis, rooted in his academic research at UIII, provided an engaging discussion that connected theoretical frameworks with real-world policy applications.
UIII continues to foster academic collaboration by engaging scholars in global dialogues on pressing geopolitical and economic issues. Kostanian’s participation in this lecture underscores the university’s commitment to contributing to international academic discourse.
