DEPOK—In an effort to maintain and enhance academic standards, Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) is in the throes of preparing for a critical accreditation process. On August 1, 2024, the accreditation preparation team of UIII, led by Suparto, PhD held a coordination meeting at the Rectorate Office, the university’s administrative hub.

A Team Reformed for Excellence

At the meeting, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Phil. Syafiq Hasyim, emphasized the importance of team works. "This accreditation is mandatory and demands rigorous work and the involvement of all units. If documents are required from any unit, the committee will request them formally," he asserted, underlining the collective effort needed to achieve optimal results.

The Weight of Accreditation

Accreditation is a multifaceted and meticulous process, particularly different from program-specific accreditation, as highlighted by Suparto, PhD who is currently the Head of the Quality Assurance Office at UIII. "It’s crucial to carefully complete all the forms and ensure the accuracy of data submitted to the government's accreditation body. This includes data on professors, faculty certifications, and research funding," he explained. The necessity for external guidance to ensure the process's success was also mentioned.

Strategic Data Management

Regiani Yunistika, S.Pd., MEd and Yusuf Anbar Firdausi, S.Ag., M.Hum, two officers at UIII's  Quality Assurance Office outlined the initial steps required for the accreditation preparation. "We need to verify all existing data and ensure every unit is involved. This involves task delegation and gathering necessary documents," stated Regiani. The importance of including educational staff in the data preparation process to ensure comprehensiveness and accuracy was emphasized.

The coordination meeting at UIII marked a significant step towards achieving accreditation, underscoring a collective effort that involves meticulous data management, strategic planning, and the empowerment of the institution’s educational staff. The initiative signals a promising future for UIII, setting a benchmark for academic excellence.
