Uiii.ac.id: Depok — The Indonesian International Islamic University has officially opened application for the UIII Scholarships, 2021-2022 academic year. UIII is the first Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH) in Indonesia that specializes in graduate studies. This is a historic moment for UIII which is scheduled to start its first academic program in September 2021. UIII is optimistic that it can facilitate online, offline or hybrid learning starting this year.
In the first press conference held at the Student Apartment of UIII Campus, Monday (07/06), Prof. Jamhari who serves as the Vice Rector for Cooperation, Research and Institutional Affairs said that in the first year, UIII would start with four faculties, namely Faculty of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Business, and Faculty of Education. He also conveyed UIII’s great aspirations to participate in the development of Indonesia, one of which is by strengthening international recognition of Islamic Studies in Indonesia.
"UIII especially aspires to make Indonesia an alternative study destination for those who want to explore the subject of Islamic Studies. The majority of the population in Indonesia is Muslim, but it has yet received the attention it deserves academically. Whereas Indonesia has become a good example of a plural, modern, and moderate Islam," he stated. On this occasion, Bahrul Hayat, PhD as the Vice Rector for Academic, Human Resource, and Student Affairs officially launched the UIII Scholarships for its first batch of students.
"UIII will receive 100 students who are fully funded by the UIII Scholarships. Exceptionally for this academic year, all scholarships will be focused on the Master’s students in all four faculties. The UIII Scholarships is open for Indonesian and international students, both Muslim and non-Muslim," he explained. The application period will last for one month, starting on June 7th, 2021 until July 7th, 2021. All students can submit their application online through UIII’s official website.
At the end of the press conference, Al-Qamah Sabil from the ICT team demonstrated how to apply for the scholarships through the website so local and international candidates can try it later. The UIII Scholarships are awarded to high-caliber individuals who demonstrate academic excellence, present excellent co-curricular activities record, and exhibit outstanding leadership qualities.
In the future, UIII plans to expand the source and number of scholarships through Indonesian government funds and partnerships with various domestic and international institutions. As an international university, all academic and learning activities at UIII will use English as the language of instruction. Especially for the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Arabic will also be used in addition to English. Meanwhile, Bahasa Indonesia is required for students who take studies and research on Indonesia and Southeast Asia for theses and dissertations.
UIII has a vision and mission to play an important role in the development of Islamic studies and the Muslim society, social sciences, economics and business, educational sciences, science and technology, as well as architecture and arts for the benefit of the mankind. Therefore, UIII graduates are expected to contribute significantly to their society and emerge as dynamic global leaders who are capable of bringing about a positive change in the society and inspire others.
