UIII Disseminates Rights and Responsibilities of International Students

UIII.AC.ID, DEPOK - A dissemination event entitled "Indonesian Immigration: Rights and Responsibilities" was held by the International Office of the Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) on December 15, 2023, providing a profound understanding of crucial immigration aspects for the international students currently studying at UIII.

Chaired by Mr. Boby Ibrahim Yudanegara, the Head of the Section for Stay Permit and Immigration Status at the Depok Immigration Office, this session aimed to impart nuanced knowledge regarding immigration rights and responsibilities to the international students' community at UIII.

Mr. Yudanegara comprehensively delved into critical areas relevant to foreigners currently studying in Indonesia. It covered an overview of the clarifications on visa and stay permit regulations, and elucidated the obligations of guarantors. He emphasized the meticulous comprehension of visa information to prevent any potential misunderstandings.

During the event's interactive segment, Mr. Yudanegara actively engaged in a Q&A session, addressing queries from students like Ismail Manjan from the Gambia, enhancing the session's practicality and relevance.

The event's significance was also bolstered by the presence of international lecturers, underscoring its pivotal role in guiding students through intricate immigration regulations and fostering a well-informed, responsible international student community.

The event concluded with the international student office expressing gratitude towards the immigration officers, including Mr. Henry Wibowo, Ms. Nuraeni Widayatti, SP, and Ms. Rini Ekasari, SE, who were acknowledged and presented with certificates of appreciation, alongside the speaker, Mr. Yudanegara, for their valuable contributions.

In response to the event, Hamad Shoukat, the President of UIII’s International Student Association (ISA), highlighted the dual role of international students in Indonesia, not only as privileged education seekers but also as responsible contributors to positive changes toward the host community.

"As international students, we not only have the privilege of pursuing education in a foreign land but also the responsibility to contribute positively to the community that hosts us," Hamad explained.

Meanwhile, Musa Bah, the Vice President of ISA expressed heartfelt gratitude for the valuable guidance provided by the immigration officers. He emphasized, "This event's role in enlightening international students on legal matters is indispensable. It's not just about easing the transition; it's about fostering a more knowledgeable and responsible international student community in Indonesia."  

In the meantime, Mr. Muhammad Yazid Lc, the head of UIII’s International Office and Student Affairs, expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic attendance, emphasizing the necessity of comprehensive information dissemination. He stressed that the proactive approach of this event is crucial to prevent potential issues resulting from a lack of knowledge, highlighting that awareness can avoid complications experienced in the past.
