Exploring International Branding Strategies for Islamic Higher Education

Depok, November 29, 2024 — The Public Relations team of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta visited Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) to explore strategies for international branding of Islamic higher education. The visit focused on leveraging media and communication as key tools for enhancing global visibility and institutional reputation.

The delegation, led by Dra. Rahmi Tri Mei Maharani, M.M., expressed their intention to learn from UIII’s experiences in building its identity as an international Islamic university. “We come here to learn from UIII on how to optimize media strategies to attract more international audiences. We observed that UIII is the right place to learn cause from the contents on its website and social media, they have represented the international branding,” she said.

During the discussion, UIII’s media and communication team, represented by Drs. Dadi Darmadi, Head of the Office of Media and Communication and Imansari Ujianty, S.Sos, Head of the Secretariat Office, shared insights into strategies for digital outreach, narrative-building, and engaging diverse audiences. They highlighted the importance of consistency in messaging and adapting to the expectations of international stakeholders.

Faozi Barkah, a member of the UIN Sunan Kalijaga delegation, underscored the value of the visit, emphasizing the importance of learning practical approaches to internationalization. “This exchange offers us valuable perspectives on how media and communication can support our efforts to connect with global audiences as part of internationalization,” he remarked.

The dialogue between the two institutions highlighted shared goals and challenges in promoting Islamic higher education on the global stage. The visit concluded with mutual appreciation and a renewed sense of purpose in using media and communication to foster greater international engagement.
