UIII, JAKARTA - UIII Rector Professor Jamhari visited the Office of Presidential Chief of Staff Dr. Moeldoko at the Bina Graha Building in Central Jakarta on Monday, June 10, 2024. The meeting was aimed at discussing the university’s progress and future development, focusing on asset empowerment and more flexible budget management.
Accompanying Professor Jamhari were the Acting Vice-Rector for Research, Cooperation, and Community Engagement and Director of the Central Library Dr. Phil. Syafiq Hasyim, UIII Secretary Dr. Chaider S. Bamualim, Head of the Academic Senate M. Riefqi Muna, PhD, and Director of Human Resources and Business Development Prof. Dr. Amsal Bakhtiar.
Professor Jamhari emphasized that UIII is still in the process of acquiring land, with 10 percent of the total 142.5 hectares remaining unresolved. "The government has prepared compensation funds for the affected residents. However, not many of them have registered, so the land acquisition process is not yet complete," said Prof. Jamhari, as cited in a statement from the Presidential Staff Office (KSP).
At the meeting, Professor Jamhari requested KSP's support in liaising with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Religious Affairs to grant UIII greater autonomy in managing its education budget. "This is crucial for us to swiftly proceed with empowerment and development," he said.
Dr. Moeldoko conveyed his commitment to supporting UIII's development, emphasizing that the university is the only national strategic project (PSN) in the education sector. "Of course, we [KSP] will fully support its development," he stated.
Dr. Moeldoko also urged UIII to shift the global community's negative perceptions of Islam, stressing the importance of strengthening Islamic diplomacy, particularly in Australia, the Americas, and Europe. "We need to target students from these countries [...] We must set the record straight," said Dr. Moeldoko.
UIII extends its gratitude to Dr. Moeldoko, the KSP, and their staff for their support and assistance in harmonizing and accelerating the development of the UIII campus. This visit marks Professor Jamhari's first official engagement since his election as Rector of UIII last May and underscores the continuous coordination between UIII and the KSP office. Notably, Dr. Moeldoko and the KSP office were among the first to respond to UIII's invitation for an audience.
UIII considers the resolution of various issues related to land acquisition, inter-departmental coordination, and budget support from government institutions such as KSP to be of utmost importance. These efforts are crucial for UIII to realize its vision and mission as Indonesia's first state university focused on providing high-quality international education.
Located in Depok, West Java, UIII is a State University with a Legal Entity (PTN-BH) established based on President Joko Widodo's Decree Number 57 of 2016. As a national strategic project in the education sector, UIII is entrusted with diplomatic missions, transcending its role from a mere educational institution to representing Indonesia on the global stage to promote moderate and peaceful Islam as a model for Islamic civilization.
