UIII.AC.ID - Prof. Noorhaidi's visit is part of a collaborative project led by Dr. Siti Sarah Muwahidah of the Alwaleed Centre at the University of Edinburgh. Funded by the British Council's Going Global Partnership (GGP), this collaboration will pursue the establishment of a dual degree program for students from both institutions.
Professor Noorhaidi Hasan's presence is intended to help the dual degree program planning and policy-making process as a project leader from UIII in this joint project. Professor Noorhaidi Hasan was also invited as a visiting scholar who will teach sessions on Islamic Democracy and the State, as well as participated in the British Association for Islamic Studies' Annual Conference, which was held on June 6 and 7, 2022.

The Dual Degree Program between UIII and the University of Edinburgh was carefully designed after several processes such as workshops, creating regulations, and policies that were agreed upon by both universities. Professor Noorhaidi Hasan says, “In 2023, it is hoped that all students from the Faculty of Islamic Studies at UIII who have qualified for the dual degree program will be able to finish their two-year studies at UIII and the University of Edinburgh.” Through this dual degree program, students will earn both an MA and an MSc.
A webinar with the topic "Decolonising Human Rights: Theories and Practices" is one of activities listed in the collaboration programs between UIII and the University of Edinburgh, where Professor Abdullahi Ahmed An-Naim of Emory University (USA) and Professor Noorhaidi will participate in this webinar. The event, which will take place on June 13, 2022, has been planned by Dr. Siti Sarah Muwahidah of the Alwaleed Centre at the University of Edinburgh.
The Dean's visit, which will conclude on 15 June 2022, is expected to bring about favorable outcomes for both institutions. With the Alwaleed Center's reputation and the University of Edinburgh being in the top 16 of the World Ranking, UIII hopes to hear more good news for developing the Faculty of Islamic Studies and all other faculties at UIII.
