JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The government is building the International Islamic University of Indonesia (UIII) on
an area of 142.5 hectares located in the RRI Cimanggis Complex, Depok, West Java, on an area of 142.5 hectares. UIII construction is targeted for completion in June 2021.
The construction of this campus is carried out in 2 stages, phase I is carried out by the Ministry of Religion with a budget of IDR 714 billion. In phase II it is carried out by the Directorate General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR with the scope of building a library and mosque. At present, the progress of building libraries and mosques has reached 18.21 percent or faster than the planned target of 16.18 percent.
Then, student apartments with a progress of 30.66 percent or faster than the planned target of 28.73 percent. "It is targeted that phase II development will be completed by the end of June 2021 according to the contract addendum which was previously targeted for completion in December 2020," said Basuki as quoted by Kompas.com on the website of the Ministry of PUPR, Wednesday (12/8/2020). Basuki explained, the construction carried out by the Ministry of PUPR, namely, the UII Mosque and Library will continue to be carried out to complete according to the target plan in the contract.
The Phase II development carried out by the PUPR Ministry includes the construction of a 2-floor Campus Mosque covering an area of 5,200 square meters with a capacity to accommodate 1,880 worshipers. The construction progress of the mosque has entered the stage of casting columns, blocks, and floor plates in the area and steel installation of the mosque's minarets.
Then, the construction of an 8-floor central library covering an area of 16,556 square meters with a visitor capacity of 1000 people. The budget for building mosques and libraries of Rp. 254 billion was carried out by the contractor PT Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) The construction progress of the mosque construction has entered the stage of installing precast concrete main beam and floor plates 3 and 4 floors, and Cast Concrete Beams, Columns and Floor Plates for floors 2, 3, and 4. In addition, the Ministry of PUPR is also building apartments for block I students. covering an area of 12,815 square meters consisting of 8 floors with 268 rooms. The budget allocation for the construction of the apartment is worth Rp. 120 billion, which is carried out by the contractor PT Hutama Karya (Persero).
The construction progress of the student's apartment has entered the stage of constructing the 2nd and 3rd floor beams, refining the 2nd and 3rd floor columns, finishing the floor plates on the 2nd and 3rd floor.Then, the concrete cast of the 2nd floor beams, the concrete work of the floor slabs on the 2nd floor, work cast concrete column 2nd floor, as well as plumbing work. The development of the Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII) is divided into 3 zones. Zone 1 consists of the Rectorate Building, Mosque, Library, Faculty Building, Regional Infrastructure, Landscape and Green Open Space, and Eco Sanctuary Park. Zone 2 is a Student Area (center for student activities, bookstores, university malls, sports facilities), resident campuses (professors and lecturers, staff, student families, & student apartments), MEP buildings (rehabilitation of old buildings).
Zone 3 consists of the faculty area and study center (study center, scholar center, training center), Civilization Area (museum, Islamic arts and culture performances, and a multipurpose building / convention center). The construction of UIII was marked by the issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 57 of 2016 concerning the Establishment of UIII on June 29, 2016. The groundbreaking of its construction was carried out by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in June 2018. With the completion of the UIII campus construction, it is hoped that it will become a center for the study and research of Islamic civilization. The plan is that this campus will be filled by students whose composition is 50 percent foreign students (international) and 50 percent from Indonesia.
