Postgraduate Study Excursion Leads to New Prospects for Partnerships

Depok, August 13, 2024 - The Faculty of Islamic Studies at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) warmly welcomed a delegation from the postgraduate program of the State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Kediri. The visit, led by Prof. Dr. Moh. Asror Yusuf, Director of the Postgraduate Program at IAIN Kediri, serves as a study excursion to seek the potential for further collaborations.

Prof. Yanwar Pribadi, Acting Dean of the UIII Faculty of Islamic Studies, expressed his delight in hosting the delegation. “On behalf of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, we are pleased about the visit of IAIN Kediri,” he stated. Prof. Pribadi also provided an overview of UIII and its Faculty of Islamic Studies to the guests.

During the visit, the delegates engaged in a lively discussion. Prof. Dr. Moh. Asror Yusuf inquired about strategies to establish a global Islamic culture. In response, Prof. Syamsul Rijal, Head of UIII’s PhD in Islamic Studies Program, emphasized the importance of diverse academic backgrounds among lecturers. 

“The key is to embrace the existing human resources and teaching courses with broader dimensions. So there are various approaches made by lecturers coming from different parts of the world, either the Middle East or the West,” Prof. Rijal explained.

The dialogue continued with questions from IAIN Kediri’s postgraduate lecturers, which were addressed by UIII faculty members. The inquiries focused on UIII’s achievements and initiatives over the past three years.

The visit concluded with a mutual commitment to foster a partnership aimed at developing postgraduate programs at both institutions. This collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing the quality of Islamic higher education in Indonesia.
