Jakarta – Rector of UIII Prof. Jamhari conducted a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Md. Abul Hasan Mridha, on September 16. The Rector, accompanied by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Phil. Syafiq Hasyim, and the Head of Office for Student Affairs and International Services, Muhammad Yazid, was welcomed by the Ambassador of Bangladesh at the Embassy in Jakarta.

The visit aimed to introduce UIII as a public international university focused on graduate and postgraduate education, offering several master’s and doctoral programs, as well as scholarship opportunities for both Indonesian and international students.

One of the highlighted opportunities is the INSANI Scholarship Program, recently launched by the Indonesian government for students from 18 friendly countries, including Bangladesh. The program was initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance through the Indonesian Agency for International Development (Indonesian AID), with UIII appointed as one of the universities hosting the program.

The Rector informed the Ambassador that two Bangladeshi students are currently pursuing their studies respectively at master’s and doctoral programs, while three others have completed their studies in the University. This year, 7 Bangladeshi candidates for master degree and one for doctoral degree are expected to join UIII under the INSANI program.

On his part, the Ambassador of Bangladesh, who was newly appointed to lead his country’s mission in Jakarta on July 2026, expressed his appreciation toward the Indonesian government for the opportunities offered for the Bangladeshi students to continue their studies in Indonesia. He emphasized the importance of people-to-people diplomacy and strengthening cooperation in the field of higher education. He thanked the University for the opportunities provided to Bangladeshi students and wished to foster academic collaboration and closer relations between Indonesia and Bangladesh.

The meeting highlighted the strong commitment and mutual interest of both parties to expedite the finalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a concrete step to strengthen academic relations between the two countries and create broader opportunities for future collaboration, particularly in the areas of research, academic and scholars exchange, and human resource development. For this purpose, the Ambassador expressed his intention to visit Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) in the near future, which was warmly welcomed by the Rector of UIII.
