DEPOK — In a measured yet significant step to strengthen its academic leadership, Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) formally installed two new faculty deans on Thursday morning, 12 February 2026. Prof. Jamhari, Rector of UIII, presided over the investiture ceremony, appointing Prof. Yanwar Pribadi, Ph.D., as Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FIS), and Teguh Yudo Wicaksono, Ph.D., as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB).

The ceremony, held in an atmosphere described as both dignified and warmly collegial, drew dozens of University executives, faculty members and administrative heads from across the university. Among the executives in attendance were Dr. Phil. Syafiq Hasyim, Vice Rector for Academic and Research Affairs; Dr. Chaider Bamualim, University Secretary; and Rifqi Muna, Ph.D., Chair of the University Academic Senate.

In his address, Prof. Jamhari extended his formal congratulations to both appointees, expressing confidence in their capacity to steer their respective faculties toward greater scholarly distinction. He underscored that the new leadership would be instrumental in advancing UIII’s broader institutional ambitions. “We trust that under their stewardship, the faculties will not only flourish academically but also contribute meaningfully to the university’s trajectory of excellence,” the Rector remarked.

Distinguished Scholars

Prof. Yanwar Pribadi, an accomplished scholar of contemporary Islam and society, brings a robust international academic pedigree to his new role. A faculty member at Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin State Islamic University of Banten, he earned both his MA and Ph.D. from Leiden University. He is the author of the widely cited monograph Islam, State and Society in Indonesia: Local Politics in Madura (Routledge, 2018), and has contributed to leading peer-reviewed journals including Bijdragen tot de Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde, South East Asia Research, and Studia Islamika. His editorial contributions to ISEAS–Yusof Ishak Institute and the Encyclopaedia of Islam Three (Brill) further attest to his standing in the field. Visiting fellowships at KITLV, SOAS University of London, and the Alwaleed Centre at the University of Edinburgh have shaped his interdisciplinary approach to questions of citizenship, identity politics, and religious expression in urban and rural Indonesia.

Dr. Teguh Yudo Wicaksono assumes the deanship of FEB following a distinguished career at the intersection of economic policy and academic research. Most recently Head of Mandiri Institute, he previously served as revenue policy advisor to the Indonesia Ministry of Finance under the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Economic Development (Prospera). His earlier affiliations include research fellowships at Survey METER and a decade-long tenure as economist at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). A frequent consultant to the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, ILO, and UNICEF, Dr. Wicaksono brings deep policy expertise to his new role. A Fulbright Presidential Scholar, he holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Economics from the University of Sydney. His research, spanning industrial policy, taxation, international trade, labor markets, and technological change, has appeared in outlets such as the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies and the Center for Global Development Working Paper series.

Both appointments reflect UIII’s ongoing commitment to positioning itself as a premier hub for interdisciplinary scholarship and policy-relevant research in the region. With the installation of its new deans, the university signals not only continuity but ambition in its pursuit of academic excellence on the international stage. []
