Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) has officially opened its Faculty of Law, marking a significant milestone in the university’s mission to become a global hub for advanced and critical legal scholarship. With admissions now open, the Faculty invites prospective students from Indonesia and around the world to apply for its Master of Law (LL.M.) programs, with the application deadline set for 30 March 2026.
As an exclusively graduate faculty, the Faculty of Law at UIII is designed to respond to complex legal challenges in the Muslim world and the Global South, while maintaining strong international academic standards. The Faculty offers rigorous, interdisciplinary training within a research-intensive environment, aiming to nurture future legal scholars, policymakers, and practitioners capable of shaping global jurisprudence.
At its opening, the Faculty of Law introduces two flagship master’s programs: the Master of Global and Transnational Law and the Master of Environmental Law and Sustainability.
The Master of Global and Transnational Law equips students with the analytical tools needed to address legal issues that transcend national borders, covering areas such as public and private international law, comparative and global legal theory, trade and investment, human rights, cyber law, and Islamic law in the Muslim world.
Meanwhile, the Master of Environmental Law and Sustainability is designed to address pressing global challenges, including climate change, environmental justice, and sustainable development. Its focus areas include international and comparative environmental law, climate change law and energy transition, environmental governance and justice, as well as ethics, religion, and sustainability
Both programs are structured as two-year programs with a total of 45 credits, combining core courses, electives, cross-disciplinary legal theory, research and legal writing, and law and policymaking components. Graduates are expected to pursue careers in government agencies, international and national law firms, multinational corporations, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and policy institutions.
The Faculty of Law is supported by an International Advisory Board comprising leading scholars from prominent law schools worldwide, including Prof. Khaled Abou El Fadl (UCLA School of Law), Prof. Tim Lindsey (The University of Melbourne), Prof. Emilia Justin Powell (University of Notre Dame), Prof. Mark Cammack (Southwestern School of Law), and Prof. Andri Gunawan Wibisana (Universitas Indonesia). This advisory structure reflects the Faculty’s strong commitment to global academic excellence and intellectual diversity.
All programs are delivered in English and taught by faculty members with credentials from top law schools, within UIII’s international academic environment and purpose-built green and diplomatic campus. Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree in law (or equivalent) from an accredited university and demonstrate English proficiency, with minimum scores of IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 and TOEFL ITP 550.
