Located right across the student apartments, the UIII Sports Center has long been a popular spot for UIII students beyond just classrooms. Its proximity to the student housing makes it easily accessible. It hosts various sports daily, with futsal emerging as the favorite one. If you visit the venue in the afternoon, you will often see students playing it there.

Beyond futsal, the center also features courts for basketball, tennis, and volleyball. Each sport has its own club and scheduled practices, making it the favorable extra-curricular hub for student activities and societies. The clubs and facilities are inclusive, welcoming both males and females regardless of any background.

While it has been merry on a day-to-day basis, the UIII Sports Center turned merrier recently as the International Student Association (ISA) organized the first UIII Unity Tournament from May 23 to June 1, 2024. Backed up by the UIII International and Student Affairs Office, the tournament featured futsal, basketball, and volleyball competitions aimed at fostering stronger bonding and promoting a sense of sportiveness among the students.

Muhammad Akbar Rahmadi, the chief event organizer, highlighted the tournament’s significance, noting its intense competition and diverse participants. "This tournament is expected to hone the participants' technical and creative skills," he noted while emphasizing it is also to stimulate students’ competitiveness in sports.

Meanwhile, Kante Hamed, a doctoral student from Ivory Coast at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, praised the tournament for fostering student cohesion. He mentioned that it provided a welcome break from academic pressures. “It was a good opportunity for us to have free time,” he remarked.

UIII fully supports the students’ sports activities. During the opening ceremony, Rector Prof. Jamhari affirmed his commitment to supporting student tournaments and expressed hope that in the future UIII could eventually compete with other Indonesian universities in various sports.
