Rayan Asa Luminaries, a UIII student from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), has been elected as the Chairman of the Productive Waqf Forum, colloquially known as Forum Wakaf Produktif (FWP) for the 2024-2027 term. His election was made through voting during the third FWP’s National Meeting (Munas), held from September 5-7, 2024, at the Daarut Tauhiid Islamic Boarding School in Bandung, West Java.

The event, themed “National Waqf Transformation: Innovation, Collaboration, and Digitalization for Sustainable Economic Growth Towards Golden Indonesia 2045,” gathered 56 waqf nazir representatives from across Indonesia, alongside academics, government officials, and waqf practitioners.

The election of Rayan Asa Luminaries was one of the event’s highlights. As a student pursuing an MA in Economics at UIII, Rayan has demonstrated a strong academic foundation in Islamic economics and waqf management. His innovative approach earned the support of the conference participants, positioning him as a leader ready to transform the national waqf landscape.

“My vision for the forum includes fostering a collaborative and digital-based approach to waqf management. By leveraging modern technology and digital platforms, we can streamline processes, enhance transparency, and ensure more efficient management of waqf assets,” Rayan said. His leadership is expected to introduce forward-thinking strategies to strengthen the role of waqf as a powerful tool for economic empowerment, particularly as Indonesia works toward the long-term goal of becoming Golden Indonesia by 2045.

This achievement not only highlights Rayan's personal success but also reflects the growing involvement of younger generations in shaping the future of waqf in Indonesia. As chairman, Rayan is poised to guide the FWP through a period of innovation and transformation, promoting waqf as a sustainable economic instrument that will benefit communities nationwide.

UIII continues to play a vital role in producing forward-thinking leaders who contribute to the nation’s socio-economic development, with Rayan Asa’s leadership marking yet another milestone in this journey.
