UIII Welcomes Tour Visit from UIN Yogyakarta Lecturers and Students

UIII, DEPOK – On June 4, 2024, Universitas Islam International Indonesia (UIII) welcomed a delegation of lecturers and students from State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The study tour visit aimed to feature UIII as an international Islamic university along with its graduate programs.

The delegation consisted of 98 students from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta's Islamic Broadcasting and Communication Program, led by Mr. Nanang Mizwar Hasyim, M.Si, the head of the study program, along with Secretary Mr. Mochammad Sinung Restendy, M.Sos, and lecturers Ms. Nitra Galih Imansari, M.Sos, and Irawan Wibisono, M.Ikom. 

UIII's Rector, Professor Jamhari, PhD, along with the Head of the Academic Senate, M. Rifqi Muna, PhD, and Secretary Chaider S. Bamualim, PhD, welcomed the visitors, accompanied by other esteemed university officials, deans, and faculty members. 

In his welcoming speech, Professor Jamhari provided an overview of UIII's establishment, vision, and mission, emphasizing its role in complementing rather than competing with other state Islamic universities in Indonesia by offering an international standard of education. 

“UIII has a mandate to provide an international standard of education with the specialized market of international students. So, we are not competing with UIN as we are more in the international market. Our objective is to have a mix of international and local students,” said Professor Jamhari, while encouraging prospective students from UIN Yogyakarta to apply to UIII if they meet the requirements. 

Mr. Nanang Mizwar Hasyim, M.Si, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome, saying that they are impressed with the facilities that UIII has. “We are very pleased to be welcomed here. UIII campus has established itself as a highly regarded institution. Despite being newly established, it is internationally recognized. We are proud to be here,” he said. 

Mr. Hasyim also noted that his team was eager to learn all about UIII including its application process, as not only students, several lecturers from his department are interested in continuing their education at UIII. 

Currently, UIII offers 11 graduate programs across four faculties. The Faculty of Islamic Studies offers MA and PhD programs in Islamic Studies and an MA in Takhassus Turath Concentration. The Faculty of Social Sciences offers MA and PhD programs in Political Science and a Master of Public Policy specializing in Climate Change. The Faculty of Economics and Business offers MA and PhD programs in Economics and a Master of Finance in Sustainable Finance. The Faculty of Education offers MA and PhD programs in Education. 

In addition to the sharing session of the study programs, the delegation from UIN Yogyakarta was also given a campus tour at UIII. The tour included visits to the Jusuf Kalla Library, Joko Widodo Rectorate Building, Rahmatal Lil’Alamin Mosque, and various faculty buildings.
