Professor Jamhari Inaugurated as UIII Rector for 2024-2029 Term

DEPOK, Indonesia (May 30, 2024) – Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) officially inaugurated Professor Jamhari, PhD, as its Rector for the 2024-2029 term. The ceremony took place at the UIII Rectorate Building's Procession Hall in Depok, West Java, on Thursday, May 30, 2024 led by Dr. H. M. Jusuf Kalla, Chairman of the UIII Board of Trustees.
Professor Jamhari's appointment follows a rigorous selection process overseen by a committee chaired by Dr. Chaider S. Bamualim. The open application period (May 10-22, 2024) attracted five candidates, including an international applicant. Three finalists presented their visions before the UIII Board of Trustees and academic community. Ultimately, Professor Jamhari was chosen on May 28th, 2024, to lead UIII for the next five years.
Professor Jamhari brings a distinguished record to UIII. He previously served as the university's Vice-Rector for Research, Cooperation, and Community Engagement, and most recently, as acting Rector (2023-2024). His extensive leadership experience includes various positions at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, such as Director of Graduate Studies and Vice-Rector roles for Cooperation and Academic Affairs. Notably, he also directed the Center for the Study of Islam and Society from 2001 to 2006.
"We are confident that Professor Jamhari's leadership will propel UIII to even greater heights," said Dr. H. M. Jusuf Kalla. Professor Jamhari holds a PhD in Anthropology from the Australian National University.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of prominent figures, including other members of the UIII Board of Trustees, Dr. M. Rifqi Muna (Head of the UIII Academic Senate), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Zainul Hamdi, M.Ag (Director of Islamic Higher Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs), Drs. Amich Alhumami, PhD (Deputy Director of Development of Human, Society and Culture, BAPPENAS), and representatives from other Indonesian ministries.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. H. M. Adlin Sila, MA, PhD (Expert Staf of the Minister of National Education and Culture), Prof. Wawan Wahyuddin, M.Pd (Rector of UIN SMH Banten), Didin Syafruddin, PhD (Executive Director, PPIM UIN Jakarta) and Saiful Umam, PhD (Senior Researcher, PPIM UIN Jakarta), UIII academic community members (deans, lecturers, staff, and students), and representatives from UIN Jakarta and other universities were present to witness this momentous occasion.
