JAKARTA, UIII.AC.ID - The MA in Political Sciences program of the Faculty of Social Science at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia is a two-year research-based program that is designed to train students to be both researchers and practitioners in the field of social science and to be capable of addressing contemporary socio-political challenges.
Embarking on a Master's degree program in Political Science opens the door to a variety of opportunities in the world of politics, government, and international relations. By doing this, students broaden their understanding of political systems and, at the same time, acquire critical thinking, analytical, and research skills that have relevance in many different professional contexts. After completing this educational journey, students will be ready to have a positive impact on society regardless of the job or research field they decide to pursue.
Graduates might choose to continue their studies and pursue a Ph.D. in Political Science at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia or at another of the world’s leading educational institutions. For example, right after graduation, Aldi Nur Fadil Auliya, one of the top graduates of the faculty of social science at UIII, secured the scholarship Advanced Study Preparation Program for Doctoral Studies (Program Persiapan Studi Lanjut-S3), sponsored by the Endowment Fund for Education Agency (LPDP, Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan), in the scheme of “Beasiswa Indonesia Bangkit” (BIB), managed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The scholarship allowed him to continue his doctoral studies with a fully funded scholarship at one of the two targeted university options: Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Michigan, United States, or PhD in Politics and International Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), the University of London, United Kingdom.
Graduates might also choose a professional career in different areas such as public administration and governance, diplomacy, civil society organizations/NGOs, journalism and others. Aldi Nur Fadil Auliya also secured a prestigious job position as a researcher at one of the think tanks in Indonesia, the Center for the Study of Islam and Society (Pusat Pengkajian Islam dan Masyarakat), Islamic State University (UIN) Jakarta. Aldi embodies the essence of the Master's degree in Political Science at UIII, serving as a gateway to diverse career prospects in both research and practical applications. Aldi had to choose between his overseas scholarship and this job position, “I had to resign from the scholarship since I still conduct an ongoing project at PPIM for two years to conduct research on Religious Environmentalism Actions (REACT project), in collaboration with the Netherlands,” he said.
