The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP), which is an intergovernmental organization in ASEAN, has been officially in partnership with the Faculty of Education at the Universitas Islam International Indonesia (UIII).

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was held on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023 at UIII campus, represented by Prof. Nina Nurmila as the Dean of Faculty of Education and Prof. Vina Adriany as Director of SEAMEO CECCEP.

The partnership entails certain aspects in the education field ranging from research and community service. It also covers the development of human resource competencies, student internships, joint institutional activities, and organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, and scientific activities.

Upon signing the MoU, Prof. Nurmila expressed her gratitude, saying that this marks a strengthened future collaboration between both institutions. The dean also noted both parties would try as best as possible to provide benefits for each other.

In this regard, the internship program would be the fastest realization of the MoU, in which the students from the Faculty of Education would experience a two-week to one-month period of internship at the SEAMEO CECCEP office in Jakarta.

“Two credits [of study] are counted [for this internship]. In this internship, students will have a chance to familiarize themselves with hands-on experience in the field,” Prof. Nurmila said.

Meanwhile, Prof. Vina Adriany of SEAMEO CECCEP, stated that her institution is open to partnering with any institution to strengthen its capacity and to give a positive impact on child education and parenting. Similar to the dean, she is also hopeful this partnership could be a win-win solution for both institutions.

"Both parties need to accommodate and accept fair decisions, mutually beneficial to all parties," said Prof. Adriany, adding that her institution would do the best from their side to provide service, for example, by giving the student interns practical responsibilities in particular conferences they hold.

Faculty of Education is among four faculties at UIII besides Islamic Studies, Social Sciences, and Business and Economics. Aiming to be a progressive international university, UIII has been in partnership with several institutions be it international universities or organizations.
