Seek Common Ground while Reserving Differences

UIII.AC.ID, Depok - A quote from the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs on her lecture on Indonesia's foreign policy and the Muslim world at Universitas Islam International Indonesia (UIII) explains that differences shouldn't prevent the spirit of collaboration. November 30", 2022.  

With much welcome and pleasure, students, lecturers, and officials of the Universitas Islam International Indonesia (UIlI) welcomed the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi during her visit to the university to give a lecture on Indonesia's foreign policy and the Muslim world.

Before presenting the lecture, the Rector UIII, Prof. Komaruddin Hidayat, warmly welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the guests and all the participants. Then, Prof. Rifqi Muna, who was the chair of the event, introduced the Minister of Foreign Affairs' biography to the participants.

Retno Marsudi gave a valuable lecture on Indonesia's foreign policy and the Muslim world, in which she dealt with a set of topics and value issues related to collaborations to achieve peace and development in the Islamic world and the world at large.

The spirit of collaboration

The Minister also emphasized the strong principles espoused by Indonesia at the Asia-Africa Conference (1955) and now emphasized at the G20 (2022). Retno Marsudi also emphasized Indonesia's role and participation in achieving peace, justice, and development in the Muslim world. She also referred to the Empowering women and the role of women in building peace.

Investing in women means investing in the future of Ummah

Minister Retno Marsudi praised the progress of the university (UIlI) and the role of the university in providing equal opportunities for education for women. She also indicated her support for the university since its founding "I was here when none in line."

Before the end of the lecture and to answer the student's questions, the Minister highlighted Indonesia's eagerness to play an active role in building peace and development not only in the Muslim world, but also in Africa, and developing countries, as well as her emphasis on women's rights to education in Afghanistan and other developing countries. At the closing of the session, the Rector of the University honored the Minister of Foreign Affairs, wishing her to repeat her visit to UIII. [AL]
