In an article published on Disway.id titled “Merebut Panggung Internasional: UIII, Intelektual Muslim Indonesia dan Masa Depan Pendidikan Islam” (“Claiming the Global Stage: UIII, Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals, and the Future of Islamic Education”), Prof. Jamhari Makruf, Rector of Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII), shared his vision to elevate Indonesian Islam to the global arena through education, research, and intellectual diplomacy.
Prof. Jamhari emphasized that UIII was established not merely to add another Islamic university to Indonesia’s landscape, but to position Indonesian Islam as a significant contributor to global discourse. Built on a 142-hectare campus with a postmodern architectural design, UIII embodies a forward-looking vision—one that integrates academic excellence with global engagement.
He further outlined three core missions of UIII: introducing Indonesian scholars in the fields of religion, social sciences, and politics to international audiences; promoting Indonesia’s moderate and dialogical Islamic identity; and strengthening Indonesia’s presence in global academic networks. Through these missions, UIII aims to bridge local Islamic intellectual traditions with global thought.
Prof. Jamhari also expressed his hope for UIII to become a hub for intercultural and interreligious dialogue—supporting initiatives such as educational programs for Afghan women and Palestinian students as part of Indonesia’s contribution to global peace and solidarity.
