The Doctoral Program of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) has successfully conducted its field assessment, an essential step toward national accreditation of academic programs in Indonesia. The evaluation took place on July 2, 2025, in UIII’s Smart Meeting Room at Faculty A.
Two assessors, Prof. Dr. Ris’an Rusli, M.A., and Prof. Dr. Khoiruddin, M.A. from the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT), led the review process, meticulously examining the program across nine key standards, including vision and mission, goal and objectives, management, governance and partnership, facilities and others.
Reflecting on the experience, the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Prof. Yanwar Pribadi, expressed appreciation for the collaborative effort behind the assessment. “From start to finish, we are grateful to the assessors and university leadership who have supported this process,” he said. “This is something we must value together, and we hope the results will be outstanding.”
Prof. Dr. Khoiruddin noted that while the program demonstrated strong preparation and smooth execution, UIII’s status as a young institution presents unique challenges—most notably the absence of alumni, which is one of the accreditation criteria.
“The assessment covers nine standards, including student outcomes and alumni data,” he explained. “Since UIII does not yet have doctoral graduates, this particular standard could not be evaluated.”
UIII Rector Prof. Jamhari acknowledged this limitation, emphasizing that alumni records are indeed a stringent requirement for newer universities. “There are still aspects to improve, and that will be our collective focus going forward,” he affirmed. “We will do our best.”
Looking ahead, Prof. Dr. Ris’an Rusli expressed optimism about the program’s development. He encouraged the faculty to pursue re-accreditation within the next two years, once alumni data becomes available, and also to aim for international recognition.
This field assessment marks an important milestone for UIII’s commitment to academic excellence and its aspiration to establish itself as a center of advanced Islamic scholarship with both national and global standing.
