Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII), through its Directorate of Research, Cooperation, and Community Engagement, has initiated community engagement projects in regions across Indonesia. This is marked by the contract signing on Monday, 11 August 2025.

This year, the Directorate of Research, Cooperation, and Community Engagement awarded 15 collaborative projects to UIII lecturers. This is one of UIII’s obligations as a university in Indonesia, fulfilling its Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education).

Rector of UIII, Prof. Jamhari, gives three messages to the grant recipients. First, he hoped the grant recipients would promote UIII in the regions, so that UIII would be more recognized. “Everyone has a responsibility to promote UIII. Finding students is our shared responsibility,” he said.

Second, he urged the grant recipients to maintain good relationships with the communities that will host them. He stated that we will continue cooperating with them, ensuring mutual trust, open communication, and shared benefits throughout the program.

Third, he noted that community engagement is crucial to improving UIII’s reputation. Furthermore, community engagement is one of the assessment factors for accreditation. “Hopefully, it can be documented in a journal; that would be a positive point,” he hoped.

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Phil. Syafiq Hasyim, hopes grant recipients will target the general public as their community service goals. “From the beginning, the goal was to help the community,” he continued. “The target for community engagement is clear: the community,” he concluded.

This year, the Directorate of Research and Cooperation received a lot of proposals, and after being evaluated, 15 grants were awarded.
