UIII Convenes Leadership Summit to Forge Strategic Roadmap

BOGOR – Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) is charting its course for the coming years as top leadership gathers for a pivotal two-day Rapat Kerja Pimpinan (Rakerpim, Leadership Work Meeting). The strategic planning session, held from Thursday to Friday in Bogor, West Java, January 29-30, 2026, aims to crystallize actionable programs across some key strategic programs to elevate the university’s national and global standing.

The retreat brings together the rectorate, university secretary, deans, heads of departments, directors, and senior administrators in different campus units to evaluate progress and design an innovative annual work plan for 2026.

A Meeting for a Transformative Era

The Rakerpim is a critical governance mechanism for Indonesian universities, often setting the tone for a leadership period. According to Dr. Chaider S. Bamualim, the University Secretary, this meeting marks the university progress in the beginning of 2026 academic year. “While UIII prepares for its next chapter, our meeting’s focus on comprehensive strategic pillars, such as international recognition, innovation, and expanding beneficial networks, reflects our priorities for competitive higher education institutions,” he said.

In his opening remark, Rector of UIII Prof. Jamhari Makruf, PhD, emphasizes the importance of global engagement and international partnerships among great universities. “These themes we discussed during this meeting align with broader trends in global academia, emphasizing the need for universities to adapt to digital technology, foster global mobility, and engage in intense collaboration with industry and the community,” said the Rector.

From Ideas to Action

The primary goal of this meeting is to translate broad visions into measurable programs. Each commission is expected to produce a set of prioritized initiatives with defined targets, which will later be integrated into the university’s annual performance plans.

By concentrating on these strategic areas, UIII leadership aims to build a more resilient, competitive, and distinguished institution. The proposed initiatives seek to create systemic impact, ensuring the university’s development is both meaningful and responsive to the challenges of 21st-century higher education.

The finalized strategies and programs formulated at the Novotel Hotel, Bogor retreat will be disseminated across the UIII academic community in the coming weeks, marking the official start of the 2026 implementation cycle. []
