Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs are working closely to finalize the rebranding of AICIS+ 2025, signaling a new era for Indonesia’s premier Islamic scholarship platform for international conference. On June 11, 2025, UIII, as the Organizing Committee (OC), met with the Steering Committee (SC) in Central Jakarta to align on key strategies, refine the core theme, and ensure the smooth execution of the revamped conference.
AICIS+, short for the Annual International Conference on Islam, Science, and Society, represents a bold evolution of the Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS). The new format aims to integrate Islamic Studies with advancements in science, technology, and societal concerns, making it more relevant to contemporary global challenges.
The meeting on June 11 focused on finalizing the rebranding strategy, which includes aligning the conference theme with Indonesia’s national development agenda—such as eco-theology, food and energy security, innovation, and human capital development.
“Hosting AICIS+ is part of UIII’s mission to pioneer new directions in Islamic scholarship,” said Dr. Chaider S. Bamualim, University Secretary of UIII. “The discussions with the Steering Committee affirmed our shared commitment to making this conference impactful, both academically and socially.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Amsal Bakhtiar, UIII Vice-Rector for Planning, Finance, and Business Development, emphasized the strategic value of the conference. “AICIS+ is designed not just for scholarly output but for societal relevance. This rebranding ensures we respond to the needs of our time with clarity and purpose.”
During the coordination meeting, Prof. Dr. H. Amin Suyitno, M.A.g, Director General of Islamic Education and Prof. Dr. Phil. Sahiron Syamsuddin, MA, Director of Islamic Higher Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, were present at the event and delivered welcome address highlighting the strategic importance of this transition and rebranding.
As preparations continue, the collaboration between UIII and the Ministry of Religious Affairs promises a fresh and forward-looking chapter for AICIS+, positioning it as a leading platform at the intersection of Islam, science, technological transformation and global change.
