MA and PhD programs in Islamic Studies

Our MA program in Islamic Studies is designed for opening up professional development pathways for those working in religious and/or academic institutions.
This program aims to enable students to become reflective practitioners in both religious and/or academic while facilitating further creative and critical thinking.

Meanwhile, our PhD program in Islamic Studies is designed to produce alumni who are critical both to confessional faith-based and scientific academic scholarships, producing originality.
The PhD in Islamic Studies aims to enable students to transform the richness of diverse scholarship and practices into a distinct critical knowledge.

What We Offer

The Faculty of Islamic studies provides an interdisciplinary overview of the basic universal values of Islam by critically examining the foundational and non-foundational sources of Islam.
Our MA and PhD programs are designed for students to explore the range of learning and research methods as well as investigate the rich and diverse theological, cultural, and social dimensions of Islam and the Muslim world.

The Faculty of Islamic Studies at UIII is designed to produce experts in Islamic studies, whose feet are well grounded both in the richness of confessional faith-based Islam scholarship and in contemporary scientific academic tradition

We offer a variety of learning, teaching and assessment methods so our students can clearly demonstrate and accurately identify strengths and weaknesses of the current research on Islamic studies and construct their own arguments.

Focus on What You Do Best

In consultation with the advisor and program committee, students will construct a major course of studies in Islamic Studies appropriate to his or her program interests from courses and individual studies offered in other programs. i.e. within the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Education.

Language Requirement

Language instruction will be in English. If your education has not been conducted in the English language, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency. The English language level for our programs is IELTS 6 or TOEFL 92.
