When Rizky Adhyaksa walked through the gates of Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII), he was not just beginning a new chapter—he was stepping into a journey that would transform his future.

Born and raised in Surabaya, East Java, Rizky had always aspired to pursue higher studies after completing his undergraduate degree in International Relations at Brawijaya University, Malang. Years of perseverance and scholarship hunting finally led him to UIII, where he earned a fully funded scholarship.

The turning point came in 2023, when his fiancée—now his wife—shared a link to UIII’s admissions page. Although the university was still new, it offered something Rizky had long been searching for: an MA in Political Science taught by accomplished scholars, paired with the opportunity for financial support.

“At first, it felt like a bet,” he recalled. “But it’s a bet you will win. Joining UIII is truly a life-changing decision.”

Rizky embraced UIII with relentless dedication. He followed his lecturers’ guidance, read everything assigned, and pushed himself beyond comfort—even through sleepless nights. His persistence was soon rewarded: he was named Best Graduate in the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Yet Rizky insists his success is not just personal triumph. “I know I’m studying with taxpayers’ money. That means I have to give back to society one day. It’s a weight on my shoulders, but also a privilege,” he said.

Looking back on his two years at UIII, Rizky credits the institution for sharpening both his academic and personal outlook. Mentored by faculty with doctoral degrees from world-class universities in Australia, U.S., and UK, he found himself constantly inspired.

“Academically, I feel very privileged,” he said. “I was trained by scholars who pushed me to read more, think more, and challenge myself.”

As Rizky celebrated his graduation from UIII, he is now preparing to move to London, UK, as he has secured the prestigious Arryman Scholarship to pursue master’s and doctoral studies in economic policy at SOAS University of London.

For Rizky, the move to London is not just another academic milestone—it is an extension of the foundation laid at UIII. He also hopes that his journey can inspire the next generation of UIII students. “Don’t underestimate what this university can give you. It may be young, but the opportunities are limitless if you are willing to work for them,” Rizky advised.

From Surabaya to Depok, and now London, Rizky carries with him the lessons, friendships, and values he gained at UIII—ready to contribute on a global stage, while keeping his roots and responsibilities close to heart.
