Depok, Indonesia — Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) officially opened its 2025 Convocation Week on Monday, September 15, 2025, marking the beginning of a new academic year and five years of welcoming students from across the globe. Since its establishment, UIII has admitted a total of 849 students, including 345 international students representing 45 countries.
The diversity of students from around the world reflects UIII’s vision of internationalization, positioning it as a global hub for inclusive learning. Students come from regions across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas. Among them are Afghanistan, Algeria, Australia, Egypt, Nigeria, Palestine, Turkey, Uganda, as well as the United States, Spain, and Mexico.
UIII Rector Prof. Jamhari emphasized that this diversity is a tremendous asset for a public university like UIII. “The growing international community at UIII demonstrates that this campus serves as a meeting point for future leaders and scholars from different nations. It also signifies Indonesia’s contribution not only to the world but to humanity at large,” he said.
For the 2025 academic year, UIII welcomed 190 new students, comprising 154 master’s students and 36 doctoral students. Of this total, 98 students come from 28 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and the Americas.
This year also marks the enrollment of eight recipients of double-degree scholarships—one funded by the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), and seven through the Indonesia Rising Scholarship (BIB) from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. These schemes provide students with opportunities to pursue joint studies at UIII’s partner universities abroad.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Phil. Syafiq Hasyim, highlighted the importance of fostering an inclusive and multicultural atmosphere at UIII. “Student diversity not only enriches classroom discussions but also broadens perspectives and builds cross-national networks. We believe such an environment nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration—essential to addressing global challenges,” he remarked.
With students from 45 countries in just five years, UIII continues to solidify its role as a center of learning and cultural exchange that bridges Indonesia with the world. Through this diversity, UIII strengthens cross-national connections and positions Indonesia as a significant player in global academia and educational diplomacy.
