Do you ever feel like taking a break from your daily routine and enjoying the fresh air of the mountains? Now, students at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) have a new way to explore nature. The university has just launched a new student organization called the ‘UIII Mountain Club’, a group for students who love nature and outdoor activities.

The club’s first activity was a hike to Mount Gede in Bogor regency, West Java on June 7–8, 2025. This trip marked the official beginning of the club, led by three Political Science students from the Faculty of Social Sciences: Muhammad Aqshadigrama, Wildan Rofii and Muhammad Ridha.

Mount Gede was chosen because of its close distance from the UIII campus in Depok. It is a well-known mountain that is not too far to travel, making it a great starting point for student hikers. “We created this club because we want students at UIII to connect with nature and with each other,” said Wildan Rofii who is the President of UIII Student Union.

The UIII Mountain Club plans to offer more than just mountain hikes. In the future, the group will also organize trekking, rock climbing, camping, and other fun outdoor adventures. Students from all faculties are welcome to join.

The club also aims to help students learn useful skills like how to survive in the wild, how to work as a team, and how to become stronger in the body, mind and soul. “This club is about more than just climbing mountains,” said Wildan Rofii. “It’s about making friends, learning new things with nature.”

With the start of the Mountain Club, UIII shows that university life is not only about studying in class. It’s also about building character, having fun, and finding balance in life. If you’re a UIII student who enjoys the outdoors—or if you’re curious to try something new—this is your chance. Join the UIII Mountain Club and be part of the adventure. So, are you ready to climb your first mountain with us?
