Depok – On a quiet afternoon in late January 2026, Andini Endah Pratiwi stood on the grounds of Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII). It had been over five years since she last saw, in person, the physical embodiment of her imagination. As her eyes traced the lines of the modern buildings against the sky, a wave of emotion washed over her. “Saya terharu,” she confessed softly. “I am moved.” The campus that unfolded before her was no longer just a concept on a screen or pages in a guidebook; it was majestic, authoritative, and vibrantly alive. “This is a campus that is magnificent and dignified,” she observed, her vision from 2020 now standing in concrete and glass. “May it progress even further.”
This moment of quiet validation was the culmination of a profound creative journey for Andini, the CEO, Design Strategist, and co-founder of Bandung-based Hubton Indonesia. In 2020, she was entrusted with a monumental task to help visualize the soul of a new, ambitious international university rooted in the deep, open traditions of Islamic scholarship. The challenge was to create a brand identity that was both globally modern and deeply resonant with its philosophical core.
Her answer lay in the ocean.
“UIII is an international campus proud of an open tradition of Islamic and religious studies, like the vast depth of Islamic knowledge,” Andini explains. “Therefore, I envisioned it as a deep sea.” This became the genesis of UIII’s visual identity: a palette of deep ocean blue, and vibrant sea blue, symbolizing the profound, boundless, and dignified nature of knowledge.
But wisdom is not stagnant; it influences and transforms. This dynamic impact was visualized through the powerful waves, reaching shores and islands, represented by accents of brown from rocks and earth.
“I hoped UIII could offer knowledge as deep as an ocean,” she says, “and be as influential as its mighty waves.” Every hue, every curve in the logo and subsequent design elements was imbued with this metaphor. It was a strategy that went beyond aesthetics; it was about embedding a narrative into the institution’s very fabric.
To ensure this vision endured, Andini did not merely transform a logo. She authored a comprehensive brand guide, a main reference of visual and strategic identity. This book has been the guardian of UIII’s image, ensuring that across years and countless applications, the campus maintains a consistent, modern, and forward-looking presence.
“It’s about building a legacy system,” notes Andini, whose expertise at Hubton Indonesia spans brand strategy, UI/UX design, and digital communication. “A brand must live, breathe, and remain coherent, from the website a prospective student visits to the signage on the pathway on campus.”
Andini’s journey to this point is a testament to strategic creativity. Recognized as an inspirational figure in publications like Tribun Jabar, she has carved a niche at the intersection of design and business logic. At Hubton Indonesia, and as an active Brand Strategist and partner at FGBC-APAC, her focus is on crafting creative solutions where design serves a clear strategic purpose for digital marketing and beyond. Her work for UIII stands as a prime example: helping an academic institution build a powerful visual identity and communication strategy that speaks to a global audience while honoring its unique roots.
Her visit in January 2026 was more than a review; it was a reunion. To see students walk under the emblem she designed, to see the colors she chose define the space in the rectorate building and the campus library, was to witness a concept become a community. “What I imagined and envisioned turned out to be true,” she shared, a note of humble triumph in her voice.
For Andini Endah Pratiwi, the UIII project is a powerful reminder that brand design is the art of translating philosophy into form. It’s about giving an abstract idea, like the depth of an ocean of knowledge, a visual heartbeat. As UIII continues to grow and make its waves in the world of international education, it does so wrapped in an identity born from a deep, thoughtful, and truly influential vision; a vision that, in the soft light of a January afternoon, finally came fully ashore.
