Center of Muslim Politics and World Society (COMPOSE) at the UIII’s Faculty of Social Sciences (FOSS) will organize an “Interfaith Dialogue Training for Peace for Young Leaders in Greater Jakarta” on October 27–28, 2025. The program is part of community engagement, supported by the UIII Directorate of Research and Cooperation.

This marks the second community engagement initiative by COMPOSE FoSS UIII. Earlier in July 2025, the center hosted the ‘Interfaith Dialogue in Southeast Asia Conference’ and the ‘KAICIID Training Curriculum Review’, which brought together KAICIID alumni and key stakeholders in the field.

Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Ridwan, Ph.D., emphasized that the training reflects UIII’s vision of becoming a hub for interfaith dialogue in Southeast Asia. “Interreligious dialogue for peace has long served as a catalyst in preventing and resolving conflicts across the region, including Indonesia. It is crucial to prepare young leaders with the necessary knowledge and skills to carry this work forward,” he said.

The two-day training will take place at the UIII campus, involving 25 selected participants from religious communities and universities. The sessions will be led by FOSS lecturers Ridwan, Ph.D. and Assoc. Prof. Djayadi Hanan, with assistance from FOSS PhD candidate Alamsyah Djafar and FOSS MA alumn Salsabila Syadza A. Using an experiential learning approach, the training will actively engage participants in hands-on practices, discussions, and reflections.

At the end of the program, participants will receive certificates and will be encouraged to contribute written reflections for a planned book on interfaith dialogue, guided by the training team. This builds on COMPOSE FoSS UIII’s previous success: in 2023, the group conducted a training on ‘Building Inclusive Leadership, which resulted in a book published by UIII Press in 2024. The upcoming program is also expected to generate academic outputs in the forms of book and journal publications.

Registration is open from August 23 to October 5, 2025. The results of participant selection will be announced on October 15, 2025. The training is free of charge and open to eligible young leaders. Registration can be completed via the link or QR code provided on the official flyer. For further inquiries, participants may contact the organizing team through WhatsApp [Click here]
