Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) welcomed the visit of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Indonesia, H.E. Dr. Zuhair S.M. Alshun, to strengthen academic cooperation between the two countries. The visit explored opportunities for collaboration in scholarships and academic exchange.
During the visit, Ambassador Alshun emphasized the importance of education as a bridge between nations, particularly in challenging times. “We do not have minerals, gas, or petroleum. What we have is mentality, built through education. Through universities like UIII, we can build long-term cooperation that benefits students and scholars,” he said.
UIII Rector, Prof. Jamhari, highlighted the university’s commitment to inclusive and international academic engagement. He noted that UIII aims to build partnerships based on shared values and knowledge exchange. “As an international university, UIII is committed to developing academic partnerships grounded in mutual respect and openness,” he said.
This visit was not Ambassador Alshun’s first engagement with UIII. He previously came to UIII to deliver public lectures. In the current academic year, UIII is welcoming one Palestinian student, showing the university continued support for access to higher education. During this visit, the Ambassador was accompanied by a Palestinian scholar Sanaa S.H. Alsarghali from An-Najah National University.
The visit strengthened UIII’s role as a platform for international academic dialogue. It also underscored the university’s commitment to build practical and long-term cooperation with Palestine.
