Bringing Dependants

If you’re an international student at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) and wish to bring your immediate family members (dependents) to Indonesia during your studies, UIII’s
International Office is available to assist you with the visa application process.

Who Qualifies as a Dependent?
Under Indonesian immigration regulations, eligible dependents include: 

  • Legally married spouse
  • Unmarried children under the age of 18

    Other family members, such as parents or siblings, are not eligible for a dependent visa
    under a student KITAS.

    What Is a Dependent KITAS?
    A Dependent KITAS (Kartu Izin Tinggal Terbatas) is a limited stay permit that allows your
    spouse and/or children to legally reside in Indonesia for the duration of your studies. This
    permit is linked to your own student KITAS and must be renewed in accordance with your
    study permit’s validity.

    Required Documents
    To apply for a Dependent KITAS, prepare the following documents for each family member:
  • Valid passport (minimum six months validity
  • Marriage certificate (for spouses
  • Birth certificate (for children
  • Copy of your student KITAS and passpor
  • Proof of sufficient financial means to support your dependent
  • Recent passport-sized photograph
  • Police clearance certificate from your home country (may be required)
    Ensure that all documents are translated into Indonesian or English by a certified translator if
    they are in another language.

    Application Proces
  • Prepare the Required Documents: Gather all necessary documents listed above for each
    dependent
  • Submit Documents to UIII’s International Office: Email the complete set of documents to
    the International Office at io@uiii.ac.id
    Processing by UIII: The International Office will review your submission and coordinate
    with the relevant Indonesian immigration authorities to process the Dependent KITAS
    applications
  • Notification: You will be informed by the International Office once the process is
    complete or if additional information is required.
    Processing Time & Fees
    Applicable Fees
  • IDR 6,000,000 for a stay of up to 1 year
  • IDR 8,500,000 for a stay of up to 2 years

    These fees cover the immigration processing and issuance of the Limited Stay Permit
    (KITAS) for dependents. Please note that these fees are not covered by the UIII scholarship
    and must be paid independently by the applicant. Fees are subject to change in
    accordance with Indonesian immigration regulations.

    Important Note: The Dependent KITAS is not covered by the UIII scholarship. You are
    responsible for covering all associated costs.

    Important Consideration
  • Employment Restrictions: Dependents holding a KITAS are not permitted to work or engage in any income-generating activities in Indonesia
  • Validity and Renewal: The Dependent KITAS is typically valid for 6 to 12 months and must
    be renewed in line with your student KITAS
  • Compliance with Laws: Dependents must adhere to all Indonesian laws and immigration regulations. Non-compliance can result in penalties or deportation.
