Depok — The Faculty of Education (FoE) at Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) continues to strengthen its position as a research-intensive graduate school with expanding international and national engagement. Designed to meet global academic standards while rooted in Islamic intellectual traditions, the Faculty offers graduate programs that combine rigorous research training with meaningful academic and professional exposure.
A distinctive feature of the Master of Arts in Education program is its dual master’s degree partnerships, supported by the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education Agency (LPDP), with internationally recognized institutions, including the University of Edinburgh, Deakin University, the University of Melbourne, and SOAS University of London.
Through these pathways, selected students complete part of their studies at UIII and continue their studies at partner universities abroad, gaining international research experience and expanding their global academic networks. Prof. Nina, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, said that even though we are young, our vision is global. “In its young age, FoE UIII has attracted international collaboration with several prestigious universities to have Master’s Dual Degree Programs supported by LPDP scholarships,” she said.
Prof. Nina Nurmila stated that FoE graduates will be ready for the real world. They have been prepared to be academics, researchers, educational consultants, and others. “Our curriculum is structured to equip graduates with the essential skills to thrive in a global environment,” she said.
Currently, the Faculty of Education offers three programs, namely, PhD in Education, MA in Education, and MA in Education Dual Degree Program. These three programs are the manifestation of the vision of realizing a better world through postgraduate education and superior research.
To align with the vision, the FoE has recruited the highest-quality lecturers in Indonesia. They came from the world’s best universities. “All the lecturers were graduated from prestigious universities in the world,” Prof. Nina said. One of them is the Head of the MA in Education program, Tati Lathipatud Durriyah Ph.D., who got her Doctorate from The Ohio State University, USA, and Prof. Nina herself got her Doctorate from the University of Melbourne.
Furthermore, the students of the FoE UIII came from all over the world. This will create an inclusive environment and become a melting pot of cultures from across the world in Indonesia. “The students’ diverse nationalities and religious backgrounds are framed within an inclusive, moderate Islamic discourse,” she explained.
In addition to its global partnerships, the MA in Education program also develops structured internship collaborations with key national and regional institutions. Students have opportunities to undertake internships at Madania School (Sawangan), the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), the Maarif Institute, SEAMEO CECCEP (Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting), as well as several pesantren and other educational institutions. These engagements are designed to complement students’ research training with direct exposure to educational policy, institutional leadership, and school-based practice.
The Faculty places strong emphasis on advanced methodological training in both qualitative and quantitative research. Graduates are well prepared to pursue doctoral studies in Indonesia and internationally, and are eligible to compete for prestigious scholarships, including LPDP funding.
By integrating Islamic epistemology, global scholarship, rigorous research training, and strategic institutional partnerships, the Faculty of Education at UIII prepares a new generation of scholars and educational thinkers capable of contributing to educational research, policy, and reform in Indonesia and beyond.
