Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) has officially maintained its status as one of Indonesia’s National Strategic Projects (Proyek Strategis Nasional/PSN), following the issuance of the revised decree by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. As stipulated in Peraturan Menko Perekonomian No. 16/2025 concerning the Eighth Amendment to the List of National Strategic Projects, UIII is listed as project number 224 under the education sector.
“Alhamdulillah, UIII remains part of the National Strategic Projects as stated in the revised decree. We are honored to continue contributing to Indonesia’s national development goals as the only project in the education sector,” said UIII Rector, Prof. Jamhari.
The reaffirmation of UIII’s PSN status underscores the university’s significance in advancing Indonesia’s higher education and promoting moderate Islamic scholarship at the global level. Since its establishment, UIII has been envisioned as an international hub for Islamic studies, social sciences, economics and business, education, science and technology that bridges tradition and modernity while fostering interfaith and intercultural dialogue.
Through its continued inclusion as a National Strategic Project, UIII will benefit from prioritized support in infrastructure, governance, and academic development under the government’s long-term vision. This recognition highlights the state’s commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s role as a global center for Islamic education and thought leadership.
The revised regulation (Peraturan Menko Perekonomian No. 16/2025) was signed by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on September 24, 2025, and officially enacted thereafter, underscoring the university’s enduring importance within Indonesia’s long-term national development agenda.
