UIII Will Accept New Students in 2020

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII) is still under construction. This was conveyed by the Director General of Islamic Education Ministry of Religion, Kamaruddin Amin.

As is known, on June 5, 2018 then President Joko Widodo held the groundbreaking ceremony of the university complex. UIII was built on an area of 142.5 hectares.

He continued, the Ministry of Religion is also preparing a curriculum for Islamic studies. Until now, the preparation has reached 99 percent, almost complete. The curriculum is also carried out to welcome the admission of new UIII students in 2020.

Kamaruddin revealed, UII would later open seven faculties, namely Islamic Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities, Islamic Economics, Science and Technology, Education, Architecture, and Arts.


For the first year, he continued, three faculties are expected to be opened, namely Islamic Studies, Education and Social Sciences in Humanities. It also is still discussing the number of new students quota for the opening of this campus later.

Asked about the education system that would be applied, Kamaruddin explained, UIII would adopt the tradition of Islamic scholarship that was applied at world-class centers for Islamic studies. For example, in the Middle East and Europe and America. The teaching staff comes from both inside and outside the country.

"Students may be 50 percent from abroad and 50 percent from Indonesia. Foreign students here will be given scholarships, and are required to study Indonesian language, so that later the alumni will indirectly become ambassadors of Indonesian culture in their respective countries," explained Komaruddin.

The construction of UIII has been planned since two years ago, and has been regulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 57 of 2016 concerning the Establishment of UIII on 29 June 2016.
